Prior to this, his time was shared between  wildlife illustration, outdoor educational activities for local schools and graphic design. The evolution to interpretation design was a gradual and natural process and all of this previous work stood Steve in great stead.

At the heart of Steve’s work is a deep rooted love for the natural world around us, a child like curiosity in the stories linked to places and the desire to share information with those around him. In partnership with local and regional organisations like Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, Cotswold Water Park Trust and the National Trust, he carries out wildlife art workshops, using art to explore and investigate local habitats and species, linking science and art.

He also exhibits his work whenever he can. In 2015 he part curated and exhibited at the National Trust property Newark Park. ‘Roaring To Soaring’ was a look at the evolution of dinosaurs into birds and it also provided activities for children. Over the winter of 2015/16 Steve curated and exhibited an exhibion of five Stroud artists at WWT Slimbridge.
